Literature

In the Victorian era (1837–1901), gold and diamond flower basket jewelry—often referred to by the Italian term Giardinetti (meaning "little gardens")—represented a peak of sentimental craftsmanship. These pieces were more than decorative; they were "wearable history" that used floral symbolism to convey deep emotional messages. Fox purchased this brooch from a Boston auction house in 2003.
