Vintage 1920s Hustler Toy Corp Sambo Mechanical Horse Pull Toy The "Sambo Hustler" Mechanical Horse & Rider is a highly collectible, painted wooden pull toy manufactured by the Hustler Toy Corporation of Sterling, Illinois. • Production Era: Originally introduced in the mid-to-late 1920s, these toys were prominently featured in major retail publications of the era, such as the 1929 Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog, where they initially sold for $0.89. • Patents: The base mechanism features stamped patent dates from April 1926 (specifically patented April 19, 1926, alongside a design patent from April 13, 1926). • Mechanical Action: The toy is engineered with a simple but charming eccentric axel-and-wire mechanism. When the toy is pulled forward across the floor, the rider's metal arms move back and forth to mimic pulling the reins, while the horse's head moves up and down in tandem

Bidders are always welcome to pickup at our gallery in lieu of shipping. MAAG will not arrange shipping for oversized items. It is on the bidder to find a courier or pick up at our gallery. Online Bidders: We will add shipping charges to your invoice once we have your shipping cost. Once payment for the invoice is received, we will have our shipping department package and prepare your items for shipping. That means we automatically prepare items for shipping after payment is collected. We use the address listed on your account for shipping.
