Description
Late 19th Century; Original, Printed in New York by D. Appleton and Co. 1881. Volume 1 has 707 numbered pages, maps and images. Volume 2 has 808 numbered pages, images, illustrations and other. Covers are slightly loose but intact and shows wear on leather. Some pages have minor staining. Overall appears to be in good estate found condition. Please view photos. Provenance: Kep Collection

The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government is an 1881, two-volume book by Jefferson Davis, the first and only President of the Confederate States of America. It is his "magnum opus," an attempt to justify the Confederacy's secession and cause for the Civil War from the Southern perspective. The work includes numerous maps and portraits, and is considered an important, though controversial, primary source on the Civil War
