French Folk Art by Jean Cuisenier The book on the left is a first edition of French Folk Art, written by Jean Cuisenier and published in 1977 by Kodansha International. Content: This comprehensive work explores regional French handcrafts, including furniture, pottery, naive painting, shop sign carving, and embroidery. Specifications: It contains 310 pages with over 400 illustrations, including 57 in color. Cover Art: The jacket features a brown ceramic rooster figurine, which is a classic example of French folk pottery. Christie's 1989 Auction Catalogue The item on the right is an auction catalogue for Fine American Furniture, Silver, Folk Art and Decorative Arts, held by Christie's New York on January 20–21, 1989. Sale Details: This specific auction was Sale Number 6742. Significance: These catalogues are often collected for their high-quality photographs and detailed descriptions of historical American pieces, including rare furniture and folk art.
