Description
Late 19th Century; Original, 24” overall height, bronze vase is 10” height. Cast bronze mounted vase with dragons in high-relief and applied dragon handles. Has original reddish-brown patina. Has custom bellflower form shade and Chinese brass finial. In excellent working condition. please view photos. Provenance: RBS

The history of an antique Japanese bronze vase converted to a lamp involves two main phases: the creation of the original vase, often during the Japanese Meiji period (\(1868-1912\)) known for its metalworking, and its subsequent conversion into a lamp, a practice that became popular in the late 19th and 20th centuries to give the object new life as a decorative home item. The conversion typically involved drilling the vase to accommodate wiring and mounting it on a new base, a process sometimes performed by Western designers in a style that blended Japanese and European aesthetics

Bidders are always welcome to pickup at our gallery in lieu of shipping. MAAG will not arrange shipping for oversized items. It is on the bidder to find a courier or pick up at our gallery. Online Bidders: We will add shipping charges to your invoice once we have your shipping cost. Once payment for the invoice is received, we will have our shipping department package and prepare your items for shipping. That means we automatically prepare items for shipping after payment is collected. We use the address listed on your account for shipping.
