These flower basket brooches are often referred to as Giardinetti (Italian for "little garden"), a style originating in 18th-century Italy. They were designed to represent a "non-wilting bouquet" of flowers, symbolizing love and fertility. They typically feature a woven or textured 18K yellow gold basket, sometimes embellished with a bow, overflowing with flowers crafted from rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds.
