Literature

The coins are made of 90% silver and 10% copper. The obverse design, shown in the image, depicts busts of male and female soldiers, symbolizing the worldwide deployment of the 21st-century U.S. Army. The top coin is a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU or MS) strike, while the bottom coin is a Proof (PR) strike with a distinct mirror-like finish. The reverse side (not pictured) bears the Great Seal of the United States, surrounded by the Army's seven core values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. The coins were issued by the U.S. Mint to honor the history, valor, and sacrifice of the U.S. Army.
